First Meeting of the 2008 year
The day was so nice that we supported the local economy by going to the Pure Juice Bbar on Angel Hill (for delicious drinks) which we took down to the Abbey Gardens to have our meeting! With a great turn out of the core group (missing 2 from the 11) we were able to confirm the new leadership, various budget and banking details, and look at our upcoming gigs along with the possibility of getting qualifications thanks to www.cegtheatreservices.co.uk! The meeting minutes will be posted on the meetings page soon.
New Sponsors
Thankyou to the Explore Card who have given us £1500 to meet up and undertake various local projects over the next year. Become a sponsor too & earn our forever gratefulness.

BurySound - The Final
Yet another brilliant event gone by for another year... It was sold out in a day!! Just goes to show the quality of the nights, and the BSEYC even had assessors or shhall we say evaluators in on the event too. Their feedback is valuable along with the vast number of young people we spoke to directly too and a report will be made available in the early part of 2008 along with a number of other youth facilities in and around Bury St Edmunds. There are pictures on the St Edmundsbury website @ stedmundsbury.gov.uk. And also at the BBC Suffolk Website: www.bbc.co.uk/suffolk

NHS - Suffolk PCT
Exciting invitations galore over the summer where the youth council is getting up to so much good for our community. A week after the Exploire card work 2 members were off to represnt the council at a Suffolk PCT Ethics Workshop. In fact it turned out we were the only young people to attend for the whole of West Suffolk! We were joined by other people from organisations such as the Patient involvement forum, Age Concern, the WI, and West Suffolk Crossroads among others. We were there to look at the ethical decision making process of what to fund in Suffolk on the NHS, from prioritisation of programmes and ranking of criteria for funding. We will make the final report from the PCT available as soon as it has had its public release as a public document.
The Explore Card Consultation
New member Lewis joined Emrys in Ipswich with Suffolk Passenger Transport to talk about the Explore Card. We covered issues such as where it works, and where it doesn't, who else should participate and how the opportunities are marketed. We also focused largely on the brand new website for the explore card which promises to be something special and useful for young people in Suffolk. Great feedback was received from the newcomer and we certainly got a lot from the meeting.
The Explore Card Consultations
Members of the BSE Youth Council have been given the opportunity to meet with other young people from across suffolk to discuss the explore card, how it can be improved and the website redesign as just some of the ideas. As a great opportunity for partnership working and making a real difference to the lives of young people in our community and having such a positive impact on our public service provision this is a great opportunity, watch out Ipswich, we're on our way over... Ask What If? A new website as an information portal has been set up by the ASC to bring information to young people about careers in certain areas of work. It covers everything from youth work to environmental officers, Architects to transport planners, or even community arts officers and police community support officers. As you can see there is information on a lot of topics, and what's better than this? Being able to ask questions and get answers, from experts and peers!!
