Use of Website

  • We cannot accept any liability for any consequences arising from the use of this website, or any other online commuunications of which the BSE Youth Council operate.
  • Every effort has been made to give full, accurate and up to date information on these pages. However, the BSEYC can accept no responsibility for any inaccuracies or omissions or for any consequence resulting therefrom.
  • You understand that by using the BSEYC forum you will not bully any members or act in a disrespectful way.
  • You can be blocked via IP address from using the website if serious breaches of these terms are found.

Data Protection Act 1998

As a non-profit organisation simply holding data for membership and contacts reason we do not have to make a disclosure to the Information Commissioner.  We also do not make a voluntary notification so as to not spend more money on administrative matters, so that we can spend this money on action / provisions for young people.

However, we do comply wherever possible with the Data Protection Act in the following ways:

  • Our electronic full member databases are encrypted and password protected + all members have to comply with a privacy clause.
  • Our paper-based member forms are either destroyed or kept locked in a filing cabinet
  • We will happily comply with any requests to see the data we hold about any body from the data subject (the person who we hold data on).  This can be done by writing to the Chairman, we will rarely levy a charge to do this, but the chairman will use his descretion to levy a maximum charge of £10.
  • Data can be updated by members at any time, we encourage this as soon as anything changes.
  • We do not share any data we hold without your implicit consent.
  • We only use your data to keep a member record, communicate with you, your emergency contacts and monitor diversity.
  • We will destroy your data within 5 years of you leaving membership unless staying as an 'alumni' member, or within 56 days of any request you make.

The data we hold for full members include:

  • Title

  • DOB
  • Address
  • NHS Number (To help if you have an accident when your with us)
  • Home Telephone
  • Mobile Telephone Number
  • Email
  • Website
  • Your Job / School if you want to tell us
  • The issues you feel strongly about (tells us your background and helps us understand you)
  • Emergency contact details
    • Name
    • Number
    • Relationship
  • Consent to photography
  • And equal opportunities data kept seperate from above:
    • Gender
    • Ethnicity
    • Religion
    • Age
    • Long term illness

And for associate members (mailing list / forum etc)

  • Name
  • Email
  • And any other data you disclose voluntarily

Membership

Below is the declaration made by members upon signing up as a member.  These also apply before any signed membership when conducting the business of or representing the, Bury St Edmunds Youth Council (BSE Youth Council, BSEYC).

To the best of my knowledge, the information I have supplied on this form is correct.

I understand and agree to behave in a responsible and respectable manner at all times whilst representing the Bury St Edmunds Youth Council. I also agree to follow any rules and constitutions passed by the youth council itself. I will not bully any member or act in a disrespectable way towards any body whilst representing the Bury St Edmunds Youth Council.

I agree that my health and safety remains my responsibility, as long as the Bury St Edmunds Youth Council does all it can to ensure my safety. I will not do anything that puts the health or safety of any member / officer at risk. I am responsible for my own actions and behaviour. In submitting this form I confirm the above to be true.

In submitting this form I give my consent for personal data to be kept and processed in a confidential manner. The use of the data includes the following: To contact members, to monitor the diversity of the council. No personal information will be passed to any party outside of the council without prior permission. If my details change in any way I will let the BSEYC know as soon as is possible.

Finally, I also confirm that I will keep relevant data and information private, all data from the council remains confidential unless the chairman instructs that the data is for public knowledge.

General

These terms and conditions may be updated at any time without notice by either the chairman or committee vote.

We are based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, Engand, UK, Europe.  As such we are governed by the laws of England, and where applicable European and UN dossier's.
